Designed in 1954 by the famous French master glassmaker and decorator Max Ingrand, this lamp was originally brought out in 1853 and later by Fontana, paying homage to the Fontana Arte company whose master glassmaker was artistic director for a decade. For design lovers and those who know the history of the brand, 1853 remains a kind of nickname: the first symbol of this timeless design object, that remains a Fontana Arte best-seller and design icon today. Fontana is the table lamp par excellence. The particularity of Fontana resides in its multiple light sources: the base and lampshade both contain one or more. The larger version also allows indirect lighting, with an additional source that projects an upwards beam of indirect light. Different light sources can be used to meet different lighting needs: from a soft, relaxing glow to an intense beam of light for reading, passing by suggestive mood lighting.
