Serge Mouille was a goldsmith-craftsman from Paris who specialised in metalwork and set up a brand to create silverware utensils. However, his research very quickly turned to metal forms and the craftsmanship of lighting fixtures. His stripped-down lamps and floor lamps, made from metal and painted uniquely in black, gained him international recognition.
